  I just don't get the rave reviews on this pub and some of my family really rate it!!! I can't fault the staff, they're great, and the tables are always clean and well spaced but I've dined here five or six times now (Sunday carvery) and I've been disappointed each time. Over-cooked beef, bland veg or roast potatoes that taste like they've been reheated. Maybe I've just been unlucky. I would love to proved wrong and enjoy a good carvery here. Sorry.

  The pub was heaving on Saturday night and other diners passed us at the bar with plates piled high from the carvery. We probably made a mistake by not having carvery because the food we ordered from the menu was just ok, not special. But, the staff were friendly and efficient and the beer local and well kept.

  First went there over 30 years ago. Lot bigger now but still very good value food and drink. Bog log fire and friendly staff. The carvery is undoubtedly the best in the area. Need to book for popular times. Pensioners get a pound discount during the week at the carvery. All locally sourced meat.
